"The battle of the sexes heats up in Columbia Pictures’ comedy The Ugly Truth. Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) is a romantically challenged morning show producer whose search for Mr. Perfect has left her hopelessly single.  She's in for a rude awakening when her bosses team her with Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), a hardcore TV personality who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick."

Bree's thoughts on the movie...

To get the part, I auditioned like everyone else.  I usually try to memorize most of my lines, but not so intensely that I can’t feel loose enough to improvise as the mood strikes. I also worked with my mentor/coach, Aaron Speiser. He always has great ideas that are unexpected.

"The Ugly Truth" on Set

My first day on set I was thrown into a scene with Katie Heigl and Eric Winter (who plays a sexy neighbor) where I am supposed to be  so taken by his looks that I am thrown into a lustful dancing fit. I hadn’t met anyone on set yet and was given no time to get cozy. I knew I had to just dive in. But that’s the easiest way to make friends I always say, to laugh and act silly together.  It worked. We all instantly bonded and I look particularly ridiculous. You’ll have to wait and definitely check it out on the big screen.

There's another scene with Katie and I where she receives flowers from a mysterious lover. It was the end of the night and we were all tired from our long day of shooting. Rob [Luketic, the director] wanted us to dance and react like giddy schoolgirls when the flowers were delivered. To get into the mood, Rob brought out his iPod and blasted some good old fashioned pop music. Katie and I couldn’t stop dancing and laughing. Those are the times you forget you’re working and just have a blast. That was a great night.

It was a really fun set, and it's a charming and tender movie. I tend to do a lot of comedies, but I don't necessarily prefer comedy to drama. I love romantic comedies, but I don't necessarily prefer acting comedies over dramas. I like to bring comedy to my dramatic roles and drama to my comedic roles. That’s the way life is and that’s what I enjoy watching.
